Anger Management Issues: Discussing Anger Management and Techniques.
Its okay to be angry! Your reaction to the anger is where the work begins.
Some common issues that arise from difficulty with managing or expressing your anger:
(Not limited to the following)
A. You hold in your anger and don’t say anything. This can lead to physical symptoms such as headaches, upset stomach, and can lead to some auto-immune illnesses. Holding in anger can cause you to feel resentful, or cause you to feel taken advantage of due to lack of assertiveness.
B. You can be explosive and out of control (e.g. explosive outbursts that seem to come out of no where).
C. You find that it can be hard to integrate anger while maintaining loving/caring feelings for the person you are angry with.
D. It effects interpersonal relationships in your professional life, affecting your functioning at work.
If you can relate to at least one of these issues, you may to some degree have an issue with expressing your anger appropriately. Evidence may come in the form of feedback from friends, family members, or coworkers.
Often people with anger issues find they need to argue their point which makes it difficult to see another person’s perspective, in order to evaluate what is really going on, and working towards managing conflict.
You may be surprised to know that anger can also be addictive!
